Focal Cinema SUB
Engineered for cinema-scale impact, the Cinema SUB pairs dual 13-inch W-cone woofers with a large laminar port for deep, controlled bass and formidable high-SPL dynamics. TED Publications highlights its 19Hz tuning, low-distortion design and multichannel poise, while its modular mounting options make this a commanding foundation for bespoke private theaters.

SOUND QUALITY PERFORMANCE 83/100
Bass
82/100
Dual 13" 'W' cone drivers, 95 dB sensitivity and bass-reflex design point to strong mid-bass punch and authority, but the published low-frequency response (+/-3dB) starts at 42 Hz, so extension into the deepest LF is limited compared with reference-class subs.
Dynamics
86/100
High recommended amplifier power (up to 800W @4Ω), large cone area (2x13"), and high sensitivity suggest strong transient authority and headroom for dynamic, cinema-style passages despite lack of listening-test references.
Assessments of Build Quality, Usability, and Overall Propositions.
Integration
68/100
No review outcome evidence provided showing room integration or 'disappearing' behavior; only specification-level details (large cabinet, passive design, external amp required) are available. Features ≠ Integration; add outcome evidence or lower Integration.
Build Quality
90/100
Focal's sandwich 'W' cones and a 73 kg, substantial cabinet imply premium materials and solid construction; product dimensions and included fabric grille support a high-quality, durable build.
Features Connectivity
80/100
Passive subwoofer requiring external amplification; lacks onboard DSP, app control, or wireless connectivity—baseline passive-score applied.
Value for Money
80/100
At the listed price (~€/$1400) the unit offers premium build and driver complement, but modest low-frequency extension reduces perceived value versus deep-reaching, powered reference subs in the same price band.
