Focal CINEMA SUB — room‑shaking authority with studio-grade craftsmanship
The CINEMA SUB is built to anchor ultra-high-end private cinemas with a focus on power, control and professional-grade materials. Boasting dual 13" 'W' cone woofers, a large laminar port and a substantial 73 kg cabinet, it pairs palpable mid-bass punch with disciplined low‑frequency delivery. Review coverage highlights Focal's intent: a subwoofer engineered for demanding, high‑SPL installations rather than living‑room background bass — a point repeatedly emphasized by Best of High End and TED Publications.
Measured strengths map to the product scoring: excellent Dynamics and Build Quality, with Features/Connectivity reflecting a traditional passive design that expects external amplification. The unit's modular intent — scalable setups for rooms up to ~200 m² — makes it ideal for bespoke home theaters and commercial screening rooms. In short, CINEMA SUB is a specialist tool for integrators and cinephiles who prioritize SPL, control and premium construction over compact, DSP‑driven convenience.

Sound Quality
83/100
Bass
82/100
Dual 13" 'W' cone drivers, 95 dB sensitivity and bass-reflex design point to strong mid-bass punch and authority, but the published low-frequency response (+/-3dB) starts at 42 Hz, so extension into the deepest LF is limited compared with reference-class subs.
Dynamics
86/100
High recommended amplifier power (up to 800W @4Ω), large cone area (2x13"), and high sensitivity suggest strong transient authority and headroom for dynamic, cinema-style passages despite lack of listening-test references.

Integration
68/100
No review outcome evidence provided showing room integration or 'disappearing' behavior; only specification-level details (large cabinet, passive design, external amp required) are available. Features ≠ Integration; add outcome evidence or lower Integration.
Build Quality
90/100
Focal's sandwich 'W' cones and a 73 kg, substantial cabinet imply premium materials and solid construction; product dimensions and included fabric grille support a high-quality, durable build.
Features Connectivity
80/100
Passive subwoofer requiring external amplification; lacks onboard DSP, app control, or wireless connectivity—baseline passive-score applied.
Value for Money
80/100
At the listed price (~€/$1400) the unit offers premium build and driver complement, but modest low-frequency extension reduces perceived value versus deep-reaching, powered reference subs in the same price band.
