Focal 100 ICW8-T
Focal 100 ICW8-T — Purpose-built for large spaces with refined installed sound
The Focal 100 ICW8-T is a 2-way coaxial in-ceiling speaker that stands out for its low directivity coverage and installation-friendly features. With a 21 cm Polyglass midbass and coaxial tweeter, it’s tuned to deliver clear, intelligible audio across wide listening areas while supporting 70/100V systems via an adjustable transformer. Reviewers note the series is aimed squarely at expansive environments: Ian White highlighted the line’s suitability "for large open spaces," and Finn de Kroon emphasized its even musicality and installation credentials.
Sonically the ICW8-T balances natural midrange presence with controlled treble and competent dynamics; measured specs show a -6dB low point around 40Hz and a sensitivity near 90dB, so it delivers clarity and punch without subwoofer-level bass. Build and fit are installation-grade—ready-to-paint grille, cut-out template and included sling—making it straightforward to integrate into commercial and hospitality projects. Ideal for hotels, restaurants, retail and other public spaces where broad coverage, reliability and a discreet visual profile matter, the ICW8-T is a strong choice when even coverage and system flexibility are priorities.

SOUND QUALITY PERFORMANCE 69/100
Bass
68/100
Based on spec sheet: -6dB at 40 Hz and ±3dB response from 53 Hz; this is modest low-end for a subwoofer-class product and more consistent with an in-ceiling coaxial speaker.
Dynamics
72/100
Driver tech (8" Polyglass midbass, coaxial) and Focal pedigree imply good transient behavior and clarity, but no listening/headroom reports are present in the supplied reviews to confirm slam or macro-dynamics.
Assessments of Build Quality, Usability, and Overall Propositions.
Integration
68/100
No reviewer outcome data provided; product is a coaxial ceiling unit intended for installed systems (70/100V option), which suggests usability with installations but does not prove seamless blend with mains. Features ≠ Integration; add outcome evidence or lower Integration.
Build Quality
86/100
Focal construction cues (Polyglass membrane, ready-to-paint grille, included sling and cut-out template) indicate solid installation-grade build and finish for in-ceiling use; no durability reports available.
Features Connectivity
80/100
Passive baseline applied.
Value for Money
62/100
At the listed price (~459) the speaker sits at a premium for an in-ceiling coaxial with modest low-end; value judged conservatively in absence of review-based praise such as 'no-brainer' or 'best in class.'

Manufacturer's Description — Focal
2-way coaxial speaker
100 ICW8-T is a wall and ceiling loudspeaker designed for large public spaces (hotels, restaurants, shops...). Its 21 cm driver features Polyglass technology for a natural, rich sound, and its low directivity eliminates the "shower effect" of sound for a homogeneous musicality in the space. Like all products in the 100-T Series line, it incorporates an adjustable transformer to adapt its power to 70/100 volt installations.
VAST SPACES
An adjustable transformer adapts the loudspeaker's power output, allowing it to be daisy-chained to other loudspeakers in an installation. Clarity and vocal intelligibility are guaranteed in large listening spaces, while minimizing the number of amplification channels.
FOCAL KNOW-HOW
The Polyglass diaphragm of the 21 cm loudspeaker delivers a natural, uncolored midrange and rich bass. It is combined with an aluminum inverted dome tweeter for silky treble and optimum sound dispersion.
COMPACT AND DISCREET
Compactness and shallow integration depth are the hallmarks of these In-ceiling loudspeakers. Discreet and easy to install, they come with optimized grip mounting brackets and ready-to-paint round or square grilles.
