The Q5s employs a dual DAC design, with the left and right channels each quipped with a next-generation AKM AK4493EQ DAC chip – with its lower distortion, higher signal-to-noise ratio, and greatly more refined mids and highs.

In order to further improve sound quality, the Q5s utilizes the XMOS XUF208 USB decoding chip paired with a precise clock matching management system, allowing for support up to 768kHz/32 bit PCM and hardware-decoded native DSD – so you can be sure of excellent sound no matter what format your music is in.

The Q5s continues to use the interchangeable amp module design of its predecessor, and is fully compatible with all FiiO amp modules released thus far. The new standard amp balanced amp module AM3E is versatile, with 3.5mm single-ended as well as both 2.5mm and 4.4mm balanced outputs.

With the upgrade to the XMOS clock management system, the Q5s has unparalleled decoding capabilities over USB, SPDIF, and Bluetooth. USB supports up to 768kHz/32bit and native hardware-decoded DSD; SPDIF supports up to 192kHz/24 bit; and Bluetooth supports up to 96kHz/24 bit (under LDAC).

With the automatic shutdown function, if there is no input source or there has been no music played through a connected input source after a set time (default 10 minutes), the Q5s will automatically turn itself off, further enhancing battery life and saving energy until when you really need it.

When connected to your computer, the Q5s will automatically adjust its charging current and rate according to smart detection of the USB port's output capability. And when connected to a phone via USB, the Q5s will automatically know not to charge and draw power from it – so you can just use the Q5s free of any worries! *Best when used with the FiiO CL06 and ML06 cables

Combining 2 into 1 for simpler operation

The original Q5 had a separate power button and volume knob. However, with the Q5s, turning it on and off is controlled by simply turning the volume knob past a certain point – making it more convenient and easier to use.

Say goodbye to imbalance with ADC volume adjustment

You no longer have to be annoyed by tiny volume imbalances between the left and right channel with ADC volume adjustment on the Q5s. The ADC curve reconstruction process effectively eliminates any channel volume imbalances that occur when adjusting the volume through a traditional analog potentiometer, and also allows for much greater precision in adjusting the volume in tiny steps.
