THX AAA Amplifier Technology

Pure, natural sound

With THX’s patented feed-forward error correction topology, the AAA amps have low distortion, high power and a pure, uncolored sound. You’ll experience subtle details and shocking swings in your music effortlessly with the AAA amp in the Q3.

Humbly powerful on the inside

All-new DAC AK4462

Utilizing AKM’s new efficient AK4462 VELVET SOUND DAC with decoding support up to 768kHz/32-bit PCM and DSD512, the Q3 achieves excellent performance.

No regrets for its powerful decoding abilities

The Q3 comes with the same XMOS XUF208 USB chip as found on FiiO’s flagship DAC/amplifier, allowing it to easily support decoding up to 768kHz/32bit PCM and DSD512.

Classic design with a pleasing roundness

The Q3 is a continuation of the design language of FiiO’s other amplifiers – its elegant curves, simple lines, smooth CNC and sandblasted all-aluminum body give it sturdy yet beautiful look while remaining practical to use.

Lots of connectors for lots of fun

The Q3 is equipped with 4.4mm/2.5mm balanced and 3.5mm single-ended outputs, allowing you to connect all kinds of headphones. You don’t have to sacrifice compatibility with single-ended headphones while having fun with the balanced output!

*Output priority is: 4.4 balanced=2.5 balanced>3.5 SE. If 4.4 and 2.5 balanced are connected at the same time, there is no output.

Light up the moment

The RGB indicator on the volume knob allows you to easily distinguish between different sampling rates, and spices up your listening experience!

Versatile multi-function button

More lows with the same highs

A bass switch allows you instantly activate/deactivate the bass boost function. The purely hardware-based bass amplifier circuit can increase bass by up to 6dB without affecting the mids or treble.

To make the Q3 more convenient to use, a multi-function button allows you to quickly switch between gain levels and filters. Change your sound with some simple taps!

· Short press the button to switch between low/high gain. Light on for high gain, light off for low gain

· Double-tap to cycle between sharp and slow roll-off filters

Your fingers will instantly know

Among professional audio products, nothing adjusts volume better than an analog potentiometer volume knob. When combined with ADC curve reconstruction, traditional problems with analog volume knobs like low-volume channel imbalance are effectively eliminated - so that you can quickly and accurately change to your desired volume.

Highly capable decoder

Better component arrangement

·Dual crystal oscillators    ·Independent LPF circuit    ·Low noise volume adjustment

Still ready even after a long day

Despite its high-performance components, the Q3 has long battery life. The 1800mAH battery means 10 hours or more of music under USB decoding, definitely enough for a normal day of listening.

Interference shielding for purer sound quality

High-strength all-aluminum body + copper-nickel shield + highly efficient absorbers form a 360° radio frequency interference shield around the Q3. Even when using it right next to a smartphone, one would be hard-pressed to detect any interference.

Instantly connect with the symmetrical Type-C connector

The Type C connector on the Q3 allows you to connect it to more devices, and allow for more convenient charging with support for USB PD and Lightning charging.

Always unfazed

The Q3 is a powerful decoder always available to unlock your music wherever you go.

FiiO Q3 — compact, powerful, and transparent portable DAC/amp

The FiiO Q3 turns smartphones and laptops into true hi‑fi sources with a notably transparent, musical presentation. Reviewers at AudioKey Reviews, Positive Feedback and Soundnews praise its open soundstage, solid imaging and a natural midrange. Bass is deep and taut (with an optional analog bass boost), treble is extended without glare, and dynamics are punchy for its class. Technically it packs an AKM AK4462 DAC, THX AAA amplification and up to DSD512/768kHz support, plus balanced 2.5mm/4.4mm outputs. The aluminum body is pocketable and well finished. Ideal for listeners who want a portable upgrade from phone dongles or a feature‑rich desktop companion, the Q3 is widely regarded as a standout value at its price.

AUDIOKEY REVIEWS

"There is a level of transparency in this $149 DAC/Amp that would not have been possible several years ago, let alone a decade and this is truly astounding."

Pros

  • Natural, transparent musicality with a smooth, engaging midrange — reviewers highlight clear vocals and musical coherence uncommon at this price.
  • Strong, well‑controlled bass and lively dynamics for portable use — bass is described as deep and taut and the unit maintains punch across genres.
  • Feature-rich technical platform (AKM AK4462, THX AAA, DSD512/768kHz decoding and multiple balanced outputs) that outclasses many rivals at the same price.
  • Well‑made, pocketable aluminum chassis with thoughtful ergonomics and useful accessories — built for on‑the‑go and desktop use.

&

Cons

  • No MQA decoding — limits native playback of Tidal MQA Masters for users who value that format.
  • A faint background hum can be audible with ultra‑sensitive IEMs, and very power‑hungry planars benefit from a desktop amp rather than the Q3 alone.

Sound Quality

90/100

Reviews consistently report good punch, fast transient response and microdynamics (Positive Feedback: taut, rumbling bass with good microdynamics; Soundnews: nice punch and speedy decays). The Q3 keeps up with electronica and rock and conveys engaging musical drive for its class.

Noise Floor

85/100

Noise is very low overall — reviewers call it 'barely audible' hum on very sensitive IEMs and measured SE/balanced microvolt figures (Soundnews: ~5.5 µV SE, ~8 µV balanced) and other reviews report no audible hiss or grain. Practical takeaway: very quiet and suitable for most IEMs/headphones, though extremely sensitive IEM users may prefer the SE output or careful gain selection.

Headphone Compatibility

83/100

Has enough power for efficient IEMs and portable/full-size headphones (about 160mW @32Ω SE, 300mW balanced, 150mA current) and reviewers confirm it drives IEMs and Meze-style headphones well. It is not positioned as a high-watt planar driver — excellent for IEMs and most dynamic cans, good for many portable over-ears, but not targeted at power-hungry full-size planars.

Build Quality

88/100

Multiple reviews describe a sleek, diminutive, well-finished pocketable chassis with good ergonomics and a premium feel for the price. Construction and fit-and-finish are praised repeatedly, making it a solid portable/desktop companion.

Features Connectivity

88/100

Feature set is strong for the price: AKM AK4462 DAC supporting up to 32/768 PCM and DSD512, THX AAA amp topology, multiple headphone outputs (3.5mm SE, 2.5mm balanced, 4.4mm Pentaconn balanced) plus USB OTG support and an internal battery. The combination of balanced outputs, modern DAC and USB support pushes it into the well‑featured portable DAC/amp category.

Value for Money

91/100

At ~$150 reviewers call the Q3 a standout value—'one of the most potent, capable, and cost effective' and 'should be on anyone's short list' for a budget DAC/amp. Multiple reviews explicitly praise the price-to-performance ratio and recommend it strongly for buyers seeking a major upgrade from phone or basic dongles.
