What Reviewers Are Saying
SOUND QUALITY PERFORMANCE 89/100
The available review describes an open, detailed and controlled presentation with substantial weight, refinement and dynamic authority. It is especially enthusiastic about the ERCO's ability to make both dense orchestral music and hard-driving rock sound focused, powerful and involving, though noise performance and a broad range of headphone pairings are not directly covered.
Transparency Resolution
93/100
HiFi News found the sound wide open, finely detailed and cleanly refined. Hannigan's breathing and phrasing were said to be readily apparent, while the ERCO kept vocals and backing instruments distinctly focused.
Tonal Balance Musicality
91/100
The presentation is described as weighty and sparkling, with a rich sheen on orchestral material and a lush, nostalgic shimmer in the treble. Review listening suggests a polished but energetic character that lets music breathe rather than sounding overly manipulated.
Dynamics
95/100
Dynamics are a major strength in the review, which repeatedly cites effortless power, control and dramatic scale. Drums thundered, rhythms were handled confidently, and the amplifier was said to slam out rock while retaining tight pacing and finesse.
Noise Floor
80/100
The review praises clean refinement but does not directly report on hiss, hum or background silence. There is also no specific evidence of performance with highly sensitive IEMs, where residual noise is most readily exposed.
Headphone Compatibility
87/100
With Oppo PM-1 headphones run balanced, the ERCO was described as gutsy, tightly paced and more forceful than the speaker setup. The review also says it drives headphones to stunning effect, but offers limited evidence across sensitive IEMs, high-impedance dynamics and demanding planar loads.
Assessments of Build Quality, Usability, and Overall Propositions.
Build Quality
84/100
HiFi News highlights the compact desktop-friendly dimensions, attractive packaging and clear quick-start material. It says little about chassis construction, control durability, connector quality or long-term reliability.
Features Usability
93/100
This is a notably complete desktop DAC, headphone amplifier and preamplifier: USB, RCA analogue input, RCA and balanced XLR variable outputs, and a balanced headphone option are all useful additions. PCM to 384kHz/32-bit, DSD256 and MQA support add flexibility, while the front-panel input selection and custom DAC filter approach were found straightforward rather than intimidating.
Value for Money
85/100
The supplied review does not directly assess whether the ERCO represents strong value against competing DAC/headphone amplifiers. At roughly $3,390-$3,477 for the ERCO Gen 2 and HYPSOS Dual Output package, buyers should compare its integrated DAC, preamp and power-supply benefits with similarly priced desktop alternatives.

Specifications
Manufacturer's Description — Ferrum
The ERCO Gen 2 headphone DAC/AMP can be upgraded with HYPSOS Hybrid Power Supply Dual Output, the same way as flagship models OOR and WANDLA. Using our proprietary Ferrum Power Link (FPL) connection, both units perform to their highest levels. While ERCO Gen 2 performs very good right out of the box, it is made to excel above and beyond when used together with HYPSOS Hybrid Power Supply Dual Output Using the FPL connection means HYPSOS can measure very deep inside ERCO than it can with any other product. Not only does HYPSOS work better in this combination, ERCO Gen 2 will also perform even better than it normally does. The truly balanced design of the preamplifier stage coupled with the IC power amplifier technology in combination with the implementation of highly selected components is elevated to a level of its own.
