Evolution Acoustics MODEL ONE
Natural. Transparent. Holographic. The foundational philosophy of Evolution Acoustics and basis of our flagship SYSTEM loudspeakers carries throughout each and every product design and the MODEL ONE is no exception. All technological advancements derived throughout the ten years of development of SYSTEM have been applied to every single custom component in this remarkable monitor. There are absolutely no “off-the-shelf” parts in this entirely bespoke instrument. From the drivers to the crossover components to the binding posts, everything is custom designed and manufactured to deliver the highest performance possible with the highest value in the industry. A true world class reference bookshelf.
All Evolution Acoustics MODEL Series loudspeakers are designed and engineered in San Diego, California. All aspects of our loudspeakers are painstakingly researched and analyzed to produce incredible micro and macro dynamic performance as well as the highest level of clarity in the industry. Only the finest parts are used throughout including reference grade film and foil capacitors, high purity copper air core inductors, copper-nickel wire wound resistors, and foamed dielectric solid core copper wiring. All these parts are hand matched and soldered in our EXACT constant voltage crossover circuits on specially designed anti-vibration and multi-tiered circuit boards.
Clarity and dynamics are achieved using our own proprietary ultra-high quality soft diaphragm Air Motion Transformer tweeters and custom tooled extreme excursion ultra-low distortion ceramic matrix midrange woofer drive units. These components are housed in advanced and structurally inert acoustic CAMDAL cabinetry. Because the walls are composed of multiple layers of high-density fiber, bonded by adhesive compound, and coupled to carbon fiber panels with an anti-vibration substrate, and capped with aircraft grade aluminum plates, the cabinet walls have superior strength and acoustic properties using eight constrained layers of dampening. You will also fall in love with the beauty of these speakers as they are adorned with soft and luxurious premium black vegan leather, matte black powder coated aluminum, and ultra-high gloss carbon fiber. Combine all these elements with an engineering target that is both time and phase aligned, and you have one remarkable speaker system.

The Evolution Acoustics MODEL ONE delivers tower-like low-end weight and striking transient punch with almost orchestral dynamics and precise, emotionally truthful resolution. Its overbuilt composite cabinet and 2" soft-pleat AMT yield refined highs and a spacious soundstage praised by Dagogo and the EXACT crossover is highlighted by Audiophilepure for its accuracy.
Pros
- Exceptionally rigid, multi-layer composite cabinet that suppresses resonance and eliminates cabinet thud, supporting larger-speaker tonality.
- Long-excursion 5.5" ceramic-matrix mid/woofer and underhung driver design deliver powerful, low-compression dynamics and punch.
- Open-backed 2" soft-pleat AMT combined with the EXACT constant-voltage crossover yields refined, airy treble and highly accurate soundstage imaging.
&
Cons
- Port tuning and placement materially affect bass: installing the supplied rear bungs tightens bass but can noticeably reduce low-end presence.
- Priced at a premium for a compact bookshelf speaker, positioning it as a luxury option rather than a budget value play.
Sound Quality
92/100
Bass
90/100
5.5" long-throw ceramic mid/woofer and a claimed 35Hz -3dB response yield bass that reviewers repeatedly noted as deep and substantial for a bookshelf. Dagogo specifically said the speaker has more in common tonally with larger towers and that plugging the rear bungs reduced low-end presence, supporting that the unfiltered bass is strong for its size.
Mid
92/100
Ceramic-aluminum-ceramic sandwich mid-bass cone and careful crossover engineering produce natural, full-bodied mids; reviewers reported tonality closer to larger tower speakers and praised the speaker's ability to render midrange detail and vocal presence faithfully.
Treble
93/100
The 2" soft-pleat AMT (PDAV) is described as nuanced, open-backed and 'more palatable than most' with good extension and air. Reviewers noted the tweeter breathes like a dipole and contributes refined, detailed highs without harshness.
Soundstage Imaging
91/100
The manufacturer’s EXACT constant-voltage series crossover and measured linearity are credited with yielding ruler-flat response and very low distortion, resulting in a realistic, spacious presentation. Multiple reviewers tied the crossover to improved realism and soundstage presentation.
Dynamics
94/100
Long-excursion driver and a design described as having four times the handling of the prior driver deliver extreme dynamic capacity with little compression. Reviewers highlighted the speaker’s punch and transient control, though low 85dB sensitivity and 50W minimum recommend robust amplification for full dynamic headroom.

Build Quality
94/100
Heavily braced composite sandwich cabinet (carbon fiber, high-density wood fiber, 6061-T6 aluminum) with constrained-layer damping earned strong praise; Dagogo called it a "brick" with no cabinet thud. Hand-matched high-quality crossover parts and dense construction support exceptional craftsmanship and resonance control.
Features Connectivity
80/100
Passive single-post bookshelf baseline applied (80). Reviewers praise the unique EXACT series crossover and premium parts, but per passive-category rules the connectivity score remains at the passive baseline.
Value for Money
76/100
With a retail point shown in one review of $3,950, the Model One is a high-end priced bookshelf. Reviewers emphasize top-tier build and sonics but do not label it a clear 'best value' vs peers at this price, making it a strong-performance but premium-cost offering.
