What Reviewers Are Saying
SOUND QUALITY PERFORMANCE 92/100
Reviewers found the speaker notably smooth, even, open and engaging, with particularly accomplished treble integration and a spacious, convincing presentation. Its bass is controlled and extended for its size, although ultimate large-scale dynamic impact is more limited at high playback levels.
Bass
91/100
Bass is described as tight, extended, neutral and even, with deep lines reproduced with welcome heft but without bloat or sluggishness. The reviewer also notes that the mid-sized cabinet can move only a finite amount of air, so it is not presented as a full-scale low-frequency powerhouse.
Mid
94/100
The midband is praised as clean, refined and precisely detailed, with realistic instrumental timbres. Integration through the crossover is a particular strength: the reviewer heard no lumpiness or hardness between the midrange and tweeter.
Treble
96/100
The JET tweeter is singled out as the speaker's highlight, delivering exceptional high-frequency performance with smoothness, speed and openness. Review listening found it flattering across varied music rather than merely attention-grabbing on bright recordings.
Soundstage Imaging
93/100
The speaker produced a panoramic concert-hall perspective, with generous space around the orchestra, clear placement of individual instruments and convincing depth. A few degrees of toe-in are recommended for the best stereo focus, while placement otherwise proved straightforward.
Dynamics
84/100
The Vela handles agile bass lines deftly and is generally described as fast and lithe. However, at higher volumes and on powerful crescendos it could sound slightly breathless, with audible dynamic compression and reduced punch.
Assessments of Build Quality, Usability, and Overall Propositions.
Build Quality
92/100
The review describes a handsome, sturdy cabinet, a convex baffle, alloy bottom plate and a die-cast plinth that provides impressive stability. Details such as the down-firing port arrangement and magnetically attached fabric grille reinforce the impression of carefully executed engineering and finish.
Value for Money
89/100
At $3,299, the speaker is positioned as a premium floorstander, but the reviewer says it gives price rivals a seriously hard time and places it among the best contemporary alternatives. Its limited ultimate scale at high levels is the main qualification for listeners seeking more physical large-room impact.
