Edwards Audio TT4SC
The TT4SC delivers clean, detailed musicality with expressive vocals, stable speed and low noise, turning familiar records into an engaging, rhythmically alive listen. David Price at StereoNET United Kingdom praised its information retrieval, fluid midband and refined treble, while the inert damped plinth and carbon-fibre unipivot arm give this manual belt-drive deck unusually mature engineering.

Pros
Clean, detailed and highly musical presentation with expressive vocals, engaging rhythm and strong information retrieval.
Low noise and satisfyingly stable speed support a composed, refined vinyl performance.
Very good build quality, with an inert constrained-layer-damped plinth and carbon-fibre unipivot tonearm.
Cons
Bass is somewhat rounded and less taut than a similarly priced Rega Planar 3.
The unipivot tonearm can be fiddly to hand-cue, and careful isolation/placement is beneficial.

What Reviewers Are Saying
SOUND QUALITY PERFORMANCE 91/100
The TT4 Carbon is described as clean, detailed, musical and unusually engaging for its price, with expressive vocals, natural phrasing and strong information retrieval. Its low noise and stable running support that involving presentation, although bass is said to be less taut than a Rega Planar 3 and the unipivot arm takes some care in use.
Overall Sound
94/100
StereoNET calls it a big hitter at the price, praising a clean, detailed and musical presentation with particularly strong general musicality. The reviewer found it upbeat, expressive and emotionally involving, with delicate treble and fine retrieval when fitted with a better cartridge; bass, however, is a little rounded rather than class-leadingly tight.
Speed Stability
89/100
The review explicitly describes the speed as satisfyingly stable. There is no further measurement or extended discussion of pitch accuracy across a record side.
Tonearm Performance
88/100
The carbon-fibre unipivot arm is reported to track very well and is credited with a fluid, lilting presence-band presentation. Hand-cueing is a little fiddly, and the reviewer notes that unipivots can be less convincing at the frequency extremes.
Noise Isolation
89/100
Noise is described as generally very low, complementing the deck's clean and composed sound. The constrained-layer MDF-and-rubber plinth is also said to feel surprisingly inert and effective at removing resonance.
Assessments of Build Quality, Usability, and Overall Propositions.
Build Quality
91/100
The finish is praised as very good for the money, while the deck feels notably inert when tapped. StereoNET highlights the effective constrained-layer damping and the more unusual carbon-fibre unipivot arm construction as evidence of thoughtful engineering.
Features Usability
83/100
This is a focused manual design rather than a convenience-led package, but the reviewer found the overall experience satisfying and reported good tracking. The main usability drawback is the unipivot arm's somewhat fiddly hand-cueing.
Value for Money
94/100
At just under £1,000, StereoNET considers it a big hitter that performs beyond normal expectations for the price. The review also calls it better engineered than is usual in this market sector, despite strong competition from similarly priced decks.

Manufacturer's Description — Edwards Audio
Following our award winning TT4 we decided to set about improving what is already a class leader in performance and value, the result is the new TT4 Carbon , which has already attracted an award from HI-FI choice in their best of the year 2022 book. Now supplied with the SC4 Speed controller as standard
The plinth for the original TT4SC was in fact the first turntable in our Edwards Audio range to use a layered acrylic construction and we can find no cost effective way to better its performance, so it remains the basis of the new TT4SC
The new TT4SC combination benefits from the use of the state of the art SC4 speed controller for the ultimate in speed accuracy, you will also notice that the new TT4 turntable also benefits from an 18mm brass bearing housing, a ceramic thrust bearing, an acetal hub, a choice of a 10mm or 18mm machined platter, and a clear z-type dust cover.
For further improvement, the TT4SC is now fitted with TALK’s A4 model 12mm carbon fibre uni-pivot tonearm which has VTA adjustment. This greatly improves the performance of an already exceptionally good sounding turntable.
The only thing left to for you to decide is what cartridge you would like your new Edwards Audio TT4 turntable to be fitted with.
Remember, if you need a phono stage for your turntable, these can be colour matched to your turntable. Some customers may wish to fly the British flag with a ‘red’ amplifier, ‘white’ phono stage and this ‘blue’ turntable as pictured.
The TT4SC turntable is available in the following colours: Black, Grey, Red, White, Green and Blue.
