How does it work?

The human ear does not perceive sound linearly. Indeed, its amplification curve, which is quite specific, peaks around 4000 Hz and remains not very sensitive at the extreme highs and lows.

Note also that ear sensitivity varies greatly depending on sound pressure.

Thus, when sound is attenuated, the ear naturally wants to compensate for all the other frequencies it does not naturally amplify and to which it is much less sensitive.

Based on this observation, the Universal Earpad was developed to protect hearing optimally by favoring attenuation on the most sensitive frequencies and by reducing attenuation on the extreme lows and highs in order to make the sound more natural and more dynamic.
