How does it work?

The human ear does not perceive sound in a linear fashion. Indeed, its amplification curve, which is quite specific, peaks around 4000 Hz and remains relatively insensitive to extreme highs and lows.

It should also be noted that the ear's sensitivity varies greatly depending on sound pressure.

Thus, when sound is attenuated, the ear naturally wants to compensate for all the other frequencies that it does not naturally amplify and to which it is much less sensitive.

Based on this observation, the Universal Earpad was developed to optimally protect hearing by favoring attenuation on the most sensitive frequencies and releasing attenuation on the extreme lows and highs in order to make the sound more natural and more dynamic.
