Positive Feedback heard powerful, controlled bass, appropriate instrumental weight, a notably quiet background and dynamics that made music jump from the speakers.

The Ear reports improved and secure tracing even on very demanding grooves, alongside enhanced resolution of tiny dynamic and textural events. Positive Feedback found it notably effective on difficult inner grooves, stable on a warped record and unusually quiet between tracks and during soft passages.

Positive Feedback initially found the stage less deep and transparent than the reviewer's reference, but subsequent setup brought a worthwhile improvement in depth and some extra width. The resulting presentation was described as large, vivid and very stable, with instruments convincingly scaled and located in real space.

Its 7.5g body weight and 12mm/N compliance should make it a practical partner for many conventional medium-mass arms, and the 1.8-2.2g tracking-force range is straightforward. However, this is a 0.5mV low-output MC, so it needs a suitably quiet MC phono stage or step-up solution, as The Ear explicitly notes.

The cartridge uses a nude Shibata III line-contact diamond on a hardened aluminium cantilever, with Dynavector's flux-damper and softened-magnetism design. Reviewers provide little direct commentary on finish, assembly consistency or long-term durability, though the reported tracking behavior suggests the stylus system is well executed.

At roughly $549-$800, The Ear calls the low-output version a “no-brainer” because it delivers the added resolution and musical information of the revised design for the same money as the high-output model. That recommendation is conditional on already having a quality moving-coil phono stage, which is an important system-cost consideration.
