The Ear found tremendous realism, midrange punch and musical energy, describing the presentation as an emotionally communicative experience rather than merely mechanical reproduction. Supersonido likewise hears a distinctive, warmly weighted sound with a high-end character, though it initially found the treble somewhat restrained in a Rega-based setup.

The Ear reports plentiful information lifted from the groove, exposing instrumental inner workings and the purity of individual voices. Supersonido calls tracing performance impeccable, saying that audible distortion or sibilance could confidently be attributed to the record rather than the stylus.

The Ear describes a strongly immersive spatial result, with the cartridge conveying the acoustic of Greyfriars Kirk and the interaction between four performers. Direct commentary on image placement and stage dimensions is otherwise limited, but the available listening evidence is very positive.

Its 2.8mV high output makes it more straightforward to use with moving-magnet-capable phono inputs than a low-output MC. However, Supersonido found that it benefited from more effective arm mass and sounded firmer and more defined on Technics arms than on warmer, rounder-sounding Rega setups.

The Ear considers the cartridge well built and says it looks good installed on the tonearm. Its nude Shibata III line-contact stylus and hardened aluminium cantilever are purposeful specifications, though the reviews offer little detail on long-term durability or finish quality.

At roughly £500 in the UK and around $599–$800 depending on market, it sits above many capable moving-magnet alternatives. Even so, Supersonido calls it excellent value and says it delivers the character of cartridges costing up to four times more, with a promotional price described as a bargain.
