Dunu Alpha 3
Dunu’s Alpha 3 brings thunderous mid-bass slam and remarkably natural vocals to the open-ear earbud format. Audio-In Reviews highlights its clean instrument presentation, smooth mid-treble detail, and unusually strong dynamics, while the handsome build and compact, non-inserted design make it a distinctive choice for listeners who value effortless, spacious listening.

What Reviewers Are Saying
SOUND QUALITY PERFORMANCE 86/100
Review evidence presents the Alpha 3 as an unusually capable earbud, with especially impressive mid-bass impact, clean vocals and instruments, and a natural overall presentation. Its smoother upper treble and limited sub-bass reach keep it from being a fully extended or highly airy listen, while positioning remains dependent on getting the earbuds seated at the right angle.
Bass
91/100
The reviewer calls its bass dynamics, slam and overall bass quality the best they have heard from an earbud. Mid-bass is a major strength, though they clearly note that deep sub-bass extension is limited.
Midrange
91/100
Vocals and instruments are described as unusually natural, clean and richly weighted for an earbud. Some added warmth can introduce mild muddiness and reduce low-mid texture and clarity, but the overall midrange assessment is exceptionally positive.
Treble
78/100
Mid-treble detail and clarity are praised, but the upper treble rolls off. The resulting presentation is smooth and relaxed rather than especially sparkly, airy or rich in the finest microdetail.
Resolution Separation
84/100
The review identifies good detail and clarity through the mid treble, alongside exceptionally clean vocal and instrumental presentation. Upper-treble roll-off limits the amount of microdetail the Alpha 3 can reveal.
Soundstage Imaging
80/100
Soundstage width is described as decent for the design. Imaging can lose focus when the earbud angle is off, but becomes convincingly focused once positioned correctly.
Dynamics Coherence
93/100
Bass dynamics and slam receive unusually emphatic praise, giving the Alpha 3 strong rhythmic energy for an earbud. The reviewer also finds vocals and instruments natural and clean, supporting a cohesive overall presentation.
FIT COMFORT ISOLATION PERFORMANCE 65/100
As a conventional earbud that rests in the outer ear, the Alpha 3 cannot create the acoustic seal of an inserted IEM. Correct angle is important for imaging, and the open fit will offer little defense against outside noise; the review does not directly assess long-session comfort.
Seal Stability
62/100
The reviewer notes that the Alpha 3 rests in the ear rather than sealing like an inserted IEM. They also report that positioning angle affects imaging focus, so consistent placement matters to getting its best sound.
Comfort
75/100
The review provides no direct comments on pressure points, fatigue or extended-wear comfort. Its non-inserted earbud form may suit listeners who dislike having eartips in the ear, but individual outer-ear fit will remain important.
Isolation
56/100
The reviewer explicitly contrasts its lack of a proper seal with sealed IEMs. As an earbud that rests in the ear, it should provide limited passive attenuation in noisy surroundings.

Build Accessories
90/100
The reviewer describes build quality as excellent and considers the design especially beautiful. They do not comment on the supplied cable, terminations, carrying provisions or included accessories.
Value for Money
85/100
At roughly $64-$80, the Alpha 3 receives a strong recommendation for listeners wanting a compact alternative to inserted IEMs. The review does not make direct comparisons with competing earbuds or assess whether it outperforms similarly priced options.
