Dr. Feickert Analogue Straight-10
The Story behind
As is often the case in life, good things take time. And that’s exactly how it was with our first tonearm—it felt like a project that would never end. After all, from the initial concept to the finished product, a tonearm is, after all, a complex endeavor…. We wanted it to be an affordable yet excellent product, because in our opinion there are simply far too many very expensive—and for the most part excellent—tonearms that are well beyond the “reach” of the majority of customers. It had to be affordable and compatible with the vast majority of cartridges on the market…
The Idea
…was to deliver flawless performance using simple means. That’s what we’re known for, and we’re not ones to go overboard with exotic components and materials. Solid, robust, versatile—that was the driving force behind the design. And we didn’t want to neglect aesthetics either…
The development
ended up taking much longer than expected. And so, unfortunately, it took years instead of the few months that had been planned. The result is a design that can truly be called classic. Gimbal mounting, traditional and reliable adjustment of the tracking force via the counterweight, elegant compensation of skating forces via a lever mechanism, and—last but not least—the ability to adjust or compensate for the stylus azimuth. What more could you ask for?
The Sound
But what sound? A tonearm shouldn’t make any kind of sound, and the Straight-10 is a prime example of the neutrality required. You hear nothing but the pure music, and that’s what matters. That’s not the only reason the Straight-10 won fidelity’s “Best Buy Award.” We are proud of this result for good reason, as it reflects our efforts to deliver the best possible sound experience at an affordable pricepoint…
