3 way floorstanding speaker

The Courbet n° 7 is a 3-way speaker using 3 exceptional drivers, all three manufactured in our production site in Troyes (10-Aube); the brand new tweeter with double decompression, the Medium speaker of the Olympia one master (diapason d’or 2016), a very fast and very defined 17 cm “Carbon” loudspeaker; custom designed to reach a general curve close to the straight line and without any complex!

This Courbet n°7 will be able to fill large rooms with a level of definition and musicality very rarely found in a three-way speaker of this size, even at very high volume.

Slender and futuristic

The perfect measurements of its little sister (Courbet N°5) have not been put aside either: a little bigger, it remains very slender and futuristic all the way.

TECHNOLOGIES

Soft dome tweeter

The COURBET range uses the same tweeter across all models (TW28CD).

17 cm carbon fiber woofers

Ideally powered, this driver delivers tight, firm, and nuanced bass.

A refined design

The enclosures in the COURBET range are tilted backwards to prevent the formation of internal standing waves.

Overall Score 89/100

Rating for [object Object]

Nicely Roasted

A commanding sense of depth and precise imaging defines the Courbet No.7, pairing an open, detailed midrange (Kevlar) with a smooth treble and exceptionally clear bass. Refined drivers and a narrow, well-built cabinet reward careful placement and electronics; Neven Kos Of hifimedia highlighted its expansive soundstage and airy, non-fatiguing top end.

Enjoy The Music

"the painting of space into depth and width that was one of the best and most striking characteristics of the speakers."

Pros

  • Exceptional soundstage with impressive depth, width and layering.
  • Detailed, open Kevlar midrange that excels with vocals, piano and strings.
  • Clean, precise bass control and high legibility from the 17 cm carbon woofer.

&

Cons

  • Demands careful system matching, speaker cables and placement to reveal its best.
  • Bass is highly controlled but lacks deep chest‑punch and visceral slam for very large rooms or aggressive material.

Sound Quality

89/100

Bass

86/100

Reviewers note a very accurate, precise and clean low end driven by a 17 cm carbon woofer and Davis' tuning; bass is highly legible. However, multiple comments point out limited volume, depth and chest slam ("A bass punch won't hit you in the chest") and sensitivity to placement for more heft, so authority is excellent in control but restrained in impact.

Mid

93/100

The Kevlar 13 cm mid is repeatedly praised: vocals, piano and strings are 'fantastic' with strong presence and detail. Reviewers note slight cabinet coloration potential and dependence on amplifier character, but overall the midrange is detailed, open and forms the speaker's backbone.

Treble

90/100

28 mm soft-dome tweeter delivers a smooth, non‑fatiguing top end described as natural and pleasant ('smoothness is certainly its greatest virtue'). The treble is not aggressive and can seem a bit reserved, pairing well with the mid for an open but not bright presentation.

Soundstage Imaging

94/100

The reviewer singles out exceptional width, depth and layering ('painting of space into depth and width', 'one of the best and most striking characteristics'). Imaging places musicians laterally with solid, readable depth, making soundstage a standout strength.

Dynamics

82/100

Presentation favors roundness and naturalness over explosiveness; transients and stampedes are not the speaker's aim ('if you are a fan of explosiveness ... you will have to look elsewhere'). Dynamics are controlled and refined but lack visceral slam and headroom for very aggressive material.

Build Quality

92/100

Drivers and components are high quality: double-decompression 28 mm soft dome, Kevlar mid from higher models, and a carbon 17 cm woofer designed for a flat response. Terminals are good-quality single-wire fittings and the cabinet engineering and parts provenance indicate solid construction.

Features Connectivity

80/100

Passive floorstander with single-wire terminals; no DSP/app streaming expected. Baseline passive tower rating applied (single‑wire terminals reported), with no extra connectivity features called out.

Value for Money

82/100

At about €4,500 (review mention), the speaker is described as demanding of electronics and placement but rewarding when paired correctly ('price will not seem excessive' if system/room are right). Good performance for price if you supply matching components; not a bargain but fair for its strengths.
