Cons

What Reviewers Are Saying
SOUND QUALITY PERFORMANCE 89/100
Reviewers describe an engaging, organic and highly musical tube presentation, with particularly strong layering, spaciousness and the ability to tailor the character through tube selection and operating mode. Ultra-linear operation is praised for added impact and precision, though one reviewer found detail somewhat muted and the sound drier with a particular tube setup.
Transparency Resolution
89/100
MFG Audio praises the HA-6A for detailed, layered sound, precise violin reproduction and unusually vivid decay on guitar strings. Convince Me Audio found that one setup could sound grainier, flatter and somewhat muted in detail, indicating that resolution is meaningfully dependent on tubes and configuration.
Tonal Balance Musicality
93/100
The dominant impression is lush, smooth and organic, with music described as captivating enough for the equipment to fade away. Triode mode is said to bring a richer, smoother presentation, while the amplifier can also be configured toward a more exact, solid-state-like balance in ultra-linear mode.
Dynamics
89/100
Ultra-linear mode is specifically recommended for listeners wanting more dynamics and impact. KT88 tubes were reported to add punch, heft and speed, including with the HIFIMAN Susvara.
Noise Floor
82/100
The supplied reviews do not directly discuss hiss, hum or background silence. One reviewer says sensitive headphones work well with the amplifier, but provides no specific observations about residual noise with sensitive IEMs.
Headphone Compatibility
92/100
Its transformer-coupled design, low/medium/high gain settings and selectable operating modes give it unusual flexibility for a tube amplifier. Convince Me Audio reports successful use from sensitive headphones through planar and dynamic designs, while also noting strong results with the demanding Susvara.
Assessments of Build Quality, Usability, and Overall Propositions.
Build Quality
91/100
Convince Me Audio calls the 19.5kg amplifier substantial and solidly built, with tight tolerances. MFG Audio also highlights its construction, in-house component work and point-to-point silver-plated OCC copper wiring.
Features Usability
84/100
The HA-6A offers useful operational flexibility through triode/ultra-linear switching and three gain settings, allowing owners to adjust presentation and accommodate a broad variety of headphones. The reviews mention single-ended and 4.4mm connectivity, but do not document digital inputs, DAC functions, remote control or other modern all-in-one conveniences.
Value for Money
91/100
At roughly $2,290 to $3,498 before optional tube changes, this is clearly a premium purchase, and Convince Me Audio notes that tube upgrades can bring ownership closer to $4,000. Even so, MFG Audio considers the value exceptionally strong, citing performance approaching the Manley Absolute at about half the price and construction that compares very favorably within its class.
