Cabasse The Pearl Akoya
Clear vocals, open staging, and room-filling scale define this compact sphere, which reviewers say sounds far bigger than it looks. Hi-Fi Choice and StereoNET United Kingdom praise its rich detail, while The Absolute Sound highlights its articulate, buoyant balance and impressive bass reach. It’s a stylish all-in-one built to make a small room feel expansive.

What Reviewers Are Saying
SOUND QUALITY PERFORMANCE 89/100
Reviewers hear a compact speaker with real poise: clear vocals, open staging, and enough low-end punch to sound much bigger than it looks. It is strongest with voices, acoustic music, and room-filling playback, while deeper bass-heavy material can expose some limits.
Bass
86/100
For its compact size, the Akoya can sound impressively weighty: one review calls the bass punchy with plenty of presence, and another says extension reaches into the 50-60Hz range with conviction. That said, a different review finds the low end underpowered on deeper electronic material, so the bottom octave is not fully effortless.
Mid
92/100
The midrange is one of the Akoya’s clear strengths. Reviewers repeatedly describe voices as rich, clear, and particularly effective, with fine detail in breath, guitar texture, and acoustic instruments that keeps vocals and lighter music engaging.
Treble
87/100
Treble is generally described as clean, open, and detailed, with good air and no obvious harshness. One review notes some roll-off up top, but it is presented as a mild limitation rather than a real problem.
Soundstage Imaging
92/100
Imaging and spatial scale are widely praised for such a small cabinet. Reviewers describe an open, spacious presentation with stable, well-focused imaging, a wide stereo picture, and a generous sweet spot that helps the speaker disappear well in the room.
Dynamics
91/100
The Akoya sounds unusually powerful and composed for its size, with several reviews highlighting big volume, strong crescendos, and convincing impact without distortion creeping in. It seems particularly comfortable when asked to sound larger than its cabinet suggests.
Assessments of Build Quality, Usability, and Overall Propositions.
Build Quality
93/100
The cabinet and industrial design draw consistently positive comments, with reviewers calling the sphere beautifully finished, sturdy, and sophisticated. Materials, lacquer work, and the overall packaging are all treated as premium, and the engineering behind the compact all-in-one concept is widely admired.
Value for Money
74/100
Reviewers generally see the Akoya as expensive, especially as a single speaker, and one specifically says it is considerably more expensive than similarly specced rivals. The sound and design win real praise, but the asking price and the awkward app/AirPlay omissions make the value proposition harder to defend against alternatives.
