Cabasse La Sphère
Cabasse La Sphère combines a true point-source array with prodigious 22-inch low-end authority, delivering precise timing, deep, attacking bass and a vast, dimensional soundstage. Jay Garrett heard realism in acoustic textures and exceptional off-axis coherence, while its active DSP architecture and room-specific setup support a composed, high-resolution presentation at serious scale.

What Reviewers Are Saying
SOUND QUALITY PERFORMANCE 93/100
Reviewers describe an unusually controlled, precise and highly resolved presentation that remains smooth and easy to hear. Its point-source architecture is credited with exceptional spatial coherence, while the enormous bass system brings genuine full-range authority and the capacity for lifelike scale.
Bass
95/100
The 22-inch bass driver reaches into genuinely deep low-frequency territory, with Cabasse quoting extension to 20Hz in open space. StereoNET heard bass with bite and attack, although very bass-heavy electronic material could become overwhelming when heard from close range.
Mid
92/100
StereoNET found conventional band recordings convincing in their depth and realism, specifically noting vividly alive strings, harpsichord and tenor saxophone. The tri-coaxial arrangement is intended to keep the acoustic centres aligned, and the listening impressions suggest a notably coherent presentation through the vocal and instrumental range.
Treble
90/100
Direct treble commentary is limited, but listeners consistently described the sound as detailed, highly resolved and controlled without becoming overbearing. The reported smooth, easy-going character suggests refinement rather than an aggressively etched top end.
Soundstage Imaging
95/100
This is a defining strength. StereoNET reported impressive off-axis performance, precise timing and a soundstage that was broad and high with notable image depth; another listener likewise praised its excellent soundstage.
Dynamics
94/100
La Sphère was reported to stay composed as volume increased rather than becoming overbearing. On funk material, drums stopped and started 'on a dime' and bass had abundant attack, pointing to both strong transient response and substantial large-scale headroom.
Assessments of Build Quality, Usability, and Overall Propositions.
Build Quality
94/100
The spherical enclosure is an ambitious composite construction, using damped dual shells, internal curved wooden bracing and substantial acoustic treatment. Reviewers also highlight the imposing 98kg construction, aerospace-derived damping materials and the exceptionally engineered tri-coaxial driver assembly.
Value for Money
85/100
At £197,500 for the complete system through Harrods, La Sphère occupies an extremely rarefied part of the market. The reviews focus on its engineering, installation support and extraordinary performance rather than making a clear argument that it represents unusually strong value against similarly priced alternatives.

Manufacturer's Description — Cabasse
A global benchmark, imagined to captivate music lovers in search of the absolute, La Sphère, in its new version, pushes the walls of high-definition sound even further. It is equipped with an all-new coaxial low-mid / mid / tweeter driver and a new 96 kHz version of its 4-way active processor.
History of La Sphère
La Sphère was presented for the first time at CES 2006 in Las Vegas. The only system in the world equipped with quadri-axial technology, La Sphère is composed of a TC23 and a 55 cm driver, with a frequency response of 20Hz – 25 kHz.
Its great processing power allows for better transparency that can only seduce music lovers in their quest for the absolute.
Strong in personality, its architecture creates no standing waves or diffraction effects with its base, which is both dense and airy in aluminum. An incredible creation by Cabasse.
French Design
Designed in collaboration with the multi-award-winning French architect, Sylvain Dubuisson, this 1.4m aesthetic masterpiece is intended to be technically perfect in order to reproduce the entire range of sound frequencies.
The 70 cm spherical enclosure, manufactured from a sandwich of composite materials originally designed for the European space program, is coupled to the die-cast aluminum helical stand, which positions the center of the speaker at a perfect height for listening.
Dedicated 4-way stereo amplifiers and processor
La Sphère is exhibited and sold as a complete system (at the customer's request). Depending on the options chosen, customers receive a set that includes: Cabasse amplifiers with the 4-way digital stereo processor dedicated to La Sphère, the high-resolution Cabasse Streamer, as well as a very high-quality preamplifier.
Personalized service
The customer delivery of each Sphère is accompanied worldwide by a Cabasse acoustician, who carefully and meticulously adapts the digitized parametric filters so that they perfectly match the listening room.
Variable slope filters
The Cabasse anechoic chamber measurement protocol takes into account measurements on-axis and over 360° for perfect control of directivity and total radiated power, in accordance with SCS principles.
In parallel, it allows for numerous listening sessions in rooms with different acoustics to fine-tune the filters. They feature crossover slopes varying from 6 to 24 dB per octave with perfect consideration of the shape of the cabinet and total respect for the intrinsic qualities of our coaxial drivers.
