Burson Audio Conductor GT4
Built as a serious desktop command centre, the GT4 pairs a strikingly black background with expansive connectivity. A Head-Fi listener noted exceptional near-field silence, while balanced and single-ended headphone outputs, preamp and subwoofer connections, Bluetooth, and high-resolution PCM/DSD support make it a remarkably versatile premium hub for a refined headphone system.

What Reviewers Are Saying
SOUND QUALITY PERFORMANCE 58/100
The available review offers a particularly strong report of silence from the chassis, but provides no direct listening commentary on clarity, tonal character, dynamics or headphone pairings. Its published specifications indicate substantial output capability and low output impedance, though those claims are not corroborated by listening comparisons in the supplied review.
Transparency Resolution
50/100
The supplied review does not discuss detail retrieval, separation, openness or overall resolution. No listening comparison is provided to establish how transparent the GT4 sounds with headphones.
Tonal Balance Musicality
50/100
The review contains no description of tonal balance, timbre, warmth, neutrality or long-term musical engagement. As supplied, the evidence does not establish a particular sonic character.
Dynamics
50/100
No reviewer comments address transient response, punch, headroom, bass grip or dynamic contrast. The published power figures suggest potential for demanding headphones, but the review does not confirm this in use.
Noise Floor
92/100
The Head-Fi listener found the GT4 completely silent even with an ear placed roughly an inch from its case, contrasting it with a Soloist that remained faintly audible at close range. This is strong evidence of a very quiet background, although sensitive-IEM listening is not specifically discussed.
Headphone Compatibility
50/100
The specifications list 0.5-ohm headphone output impedance, balanced and single-ended outputs, and power ratings across 16 to 300 ohms. However, the supplied review gives no actual headphone pairings or evidence regarding gain behaviour, low-volume control, or performance with difficult planars and sensitive IEMs.
Assessments of Build Quality, Usability, and Overall Propositions.
Build Quality
86/100
The supplied Head-Fi review describes neat PCB work and high-quality internal components shared with Burson's recent designs. It says little about the external chassis, controls, connectors, heat management or long-term durability.
Features Usability
94/100
The GT4 is comprehensively equipped as a DAC/headphone amplifier, with USB, optical, Bluetooth, RCA and XLR inputs, plus 6.35 mm, 3.5 mm and balanced XLR headphone outputs. RCA/XLR preamp and line outputs, a subwoofer pre-output, remote control, and broad PCM/DSD support make it unusually flexible for a desktop system.
Value for Money
85/100
At $2,799, the GT4 sits in a premium desktop DAC/amplifier segment and brings extensive connectivity and high claimed output power. None of the supplied review material directly assesses whether it outperforms competing products for the asking price.

Manufacturer's Description — Burson Audio
GT4: Conductor’s Biggest Evolution is Here!
The Conductor GT4 is the result of 20 years of evolution, significantly surpassing the GT3.
For the first time, it features six stackable Max-Current Power Modules and seven noise-filtering SP Modules, enabling a new dual DAC architecture. Taking advantage of its superior power supplies, we have adopted an American-made power transistor that further enhances the Burson Sound.
These breakthrough technologies combine to elevate the GT4 to unparalleled performance heights.
100W Soloist In, 10W Pure Class-A Out!
The modularization of our Max-Current PS allows for space-saving stacking. As a result, we have fitted the entire output stage of the Burson Soloist, independently powered, into the Conductor GT4. With a 100W idling bias and delivering 10 watts of pure Class-A power, the GT4 delivers surgical precision with immense driving power.
Dual DAC Reinvented.
In the GT3, we use two ESS9038 DAC chips that work together to process both channels. In the GT4, thanks to our stackable Max-Current Power Module, each DAC chip is independently powered and handles only one channel. This new design eliminates cross-channel interference and significantly improves detail retrieval.
Combining this new DAC architecture with our world-renowned Burson V7 opamps, the resulting sound is rich in detail playing on a holographic soundstage.
Connect Them All!
The Conductor GT4 connects instantly to phones, laptops, or music streamers. Its XMOS USB-C input supports native DSD512 and 32-bit/786kHz audio playback. The advanced Qualcomm CSR8675 Bluetooth receiver supports 24-bit/96kHz aptX HD and LDAC codecs. Roon Tested, the GT4 seamlessly connects with Roon Ready devices.
For gamers, the GT4 offers a dedicated gaming headphone output to enhance your experience.
Connecting to high-quality audio has never been this fun and easy!
Quieter Than Battery Power
To reproduce your favourite songs with perfect clarity, you need clean power. The Conductor GT4 features seven Burson Silent Power (SP) Modules, each with a noise filtering rate over 200 times better than standard regulators. This ensures every tiny detail in your music is crystal clear and noise-free.
Head+Sub Mode. Say what!?
Sound is not just heard but felt—an experience that resonates through our entire being and stimulates all our senses.
With the Conductor GT4, headphone listening reaches new heights. Add a subwoofer to your open-back headphones and feel fully immersed in your favourite song, movie or game.
Fusion. Clean and limitless power!
Linear power supplies, with their vibrating coiled transformers, are bulky, inefficient, and generate 50Hz ground loop noise. Conventional switching power supplies have inherent problems that result in harsh vocals and treble filled with background noise when applied to audio amplification.
The Burson Fusion Core features advanced noise filtering with GaN transistors operating above 1 MHz. Its high-frequency current pump circuit delivers up to 480W, making it the audio industry’s most advanced power supply with an incredible look.
The GT that Masters All Tracks:
The Conductor GT4 offers abundant upgradability to elevate your listening experience. Burson discrete opamps give the GT4 its unique sound, while the Silent Power Modules ensure pristine power filtering. The Super Charger and Fusion Core drive the GT4 far ahead of the competition.
Drive it to rediscover the moments when life change tracks and songs to match, or explore new sounds that take you on a journey. The Conductor GT4 lets you do it all with unparalleled style and sophistication, making every listening session extraordinary.
