Pros
Big, tight low bass with cardioid tuning that reduces boom and allows more flexible near-wall placement.
Rich yet more transparent midrange, with convincing vocal realism, airy treble and fine inner detail.
Exceptionally expansive, precise imaging and soundstage depth.
Highly adaptable all-in-one active platform, combining matched amplification, DACs, wireless operation and selectable DSP master tunings.
Cons
Premium pricing makes it a substantial investment.
Cardioid modes trade away output headroom and require lower playback levels to avoid woofer overexcursion.

What Reviewers Are Saying
SOUND QUALITY PERFORMANCE 94/100
Reviewers describe an unusually clean, musical and highly resolving presentation, combining Buchardt's familiar warmth with greater transparency and air. The cardioid tuning is also praised for keeping the low end controlled in real rooms while the speaker produces an expansive, precise sound field.
Bass
95/100
HiFi Huff heard big, tight and controlled bass rather than boom, and found the cardioid setting remarkably effective at reducing wall-related bass excess. Z Reviews says the multiple active drivers deliver response into the high 20Hz region and create the fast, weighty impression of having a subwoofer built in.
Mid
93/100
HiFi Huff describes the midrange as rich, with punchy warmth retained from earlier Buchardt voicings. The A700 LE is said to add more transparency and a see-through sense of realism to vocals and instruments.
Treble
93/100
The treble is singled out by HiFi Huff as especially impressive, with more air and notes that hang convincingly in space. Z Reviews likewise notes extra detail and sparkle, with no criticism of hardness or glare in the supplied reviews.
Soundstage Imaging
96/100
Imaging receives exceptional praise: HiFi Huff calls it fantastic, while Z Reviews describes striking depth that expands well beyond the usual listening triangle. Z Reviews also calls out particularly strong vocal clarity and imaging precision.
Dynamics
91/100
Z Reviews reports that the A700 LE remains loud, clear, detailed and controlled at the same time, suggesting substantial active-system headroom. The supplied reviews say less about dynamic contrasts across a wide range of recordings, but the available listening report is emphatically positive.
Assessments of Build Quality, Usability, and Overall Propositions.
Build Quality
93/100
HiFi Huff praises the handmade Danish construction and calls the walnut cabinet particularly beautiful in person. Z Reviews says the finish is perfect, reinforcing the impression of carefully executed cabinetry and cosmetics.
Value for Money
88/100
At roughly $6,300-$7,300 depending on configuration, the A700 LE is a premium purchase, but Z Reviews finds the price-to-performance proposition compelling even from a cost-conscious perspective. Its integrated amplification, DAC functionality, wireless operation and room-tuning options strengthen the case against assembling a comparably capable separate system.

Manufacturer's Description — Buchardt Audio
The Limited Edition
One of the most successful speakers that has been a cornerstone of the line-up for years. An exceptional performer highly regarded among customers and reviewers.
Upgraded Tweeter
The in-house developed RFA19 tweeter is added to improve detail retrieval and increase resolution at the top and end upper midrange. This change elevates the treble performance, optimizing the implementation learned from the A10.
Completely New Mastertunings
The speaker's code has been re-written, incorporating new techniques learned over the years. The rework of Mastertunings is crucial for perfect integration of the new tweeter, with engineers achieving impressive performance from the upgraded parts.
Cardioid Dispersion (Optional)
A unique feature using the back woofer to cancel out lower frequencies from 90-300hz, an area where speakers are normally omnidirectional. This reduces room interference and provides a clean presentation in bass and lower midrange, particularly beneficial for vocal reproduction.
Made In Denmark
Crafted in Denmark and available in black, white, and high-quality real walnut wood veneer. The walnut cabinets undergo an oiling and waxing process to preserve the raw appearance, enhancing depth and dark tone. The wax serves as a sealant to ensure durability.
