THE BLACK ICE AUDIO F360 PREAMPLIFIER

We asked ourselves what quality does the ideal preamplifier possess? Control, Control, Control! That’s why we designed the F360 preamplifier which can contour the sound to your room and preferences.

The all tube F360 preamplifier uses one 6SN7 dual triode tube with zero negative feedback for inexpensive tube rolling that can easily be voiced to any amplifier; tube or solid state. Our F360 features five inputs, one shared XLR/RCA, Frequency Control, the Dimension Pro Circuit that includes the advanced sound stage expander, the 360 Space Matrix Circuit for depth control, the Logic Display, and an all metal remote. 

The F360 can send the sound to your Fusion integrated or power amplifier using the XLR or RCA outputs and features both mono and stereo sub outs.

DIMENSION PRO CIRCUIT

The Dimension Pro is a breakthrough, it will allow you to overcome the limitations of your space and interior design needs without having to worry about proper speaker placement. The speakers and the room will disappear with a turn of the Dimension Pro knob. The design goes back to the early ’80s and is based on a fix for early multi-channel home theater setups that had trouble creating a proper 3D sound field. The circuit can move phasing to a narrow field and make two speakers image as one like a center channel. Conversely, the circuit can widen the phasing and expand the sound field which removes the confinement of the walls of a room without losing the center image. Allowing the listener the ability to focus or widen the soundstage. The results are increased three-dimensional images and an expansive soundstage that can expand beyond the walls of the room.

THE 360 CIRCUIT

The 360 Space Matrix Circuit adds the ability to use rear speakers for soundstage depth reinforcement and to have the music truly surround you!. The 360 circuit lets you add rear channel speakers which then affect the resonance of the front channels at specific frequencies to establish more depth and envelop the listener in the music. The effect is user adjustable and can be bypassed. The results are a more life-like presentation and an experience of turning your room into a venue.

HI and LOW FREQUENCY CONTROL

The High-Frequency adjustment circuit can increase or decrease high frequencies up to 11 dB. This helps add detail for warmer speakers or take the edge off horn speakers for long listening sessions. The Bass adjustment circuit is designed to increase low bass impact up to 15dB without adding the dreaded bass boom. If you have bass bloat/boom, the bass equalizer can reduce the boom up to 15 dB without ruining the sound. For the purists among us, you can bypass the low/high equalizer circuit and just treat yourself to unfiltered sound with zero negative feedback.

THE LOGIC DISPLAY

The Black Ice Logic Display is not just a gimmick and pretty lights. It is a powerful tool that shows you exactly what the audio engineer recorded in the right and left channels. It also shows what the engineer placed in and out of phase in the track. Phase is used by engineers to create the illusion of three-dimensional sound. This information is used to properly tune the Dimension Pro knob on the F360. We recommend listening to a track with the Dimension Pro Circuit at the 12 O’clock position(bypassed) to see if the recording is IN or OUT of phase. For example, if the track is in-phase then you will want to set the knob toward the wide and adjust it for your room.

REVOLUTIONARY CIRCUIT DESIGN

The F360 uses a Cascode circuit redesigned by Jim Fosgate, who has added a MOSFET output to give the musical performance of tubes with the speed and detail of current solid-state designs. The high voltage B+ power supply has a soft (slow) turn-on and low output impedance with no ac ripple to cause AC hum. The PC layouts are a work of art with short direct audio paths, signal grounds, and power supply feeds. Combined with our proprietary transformer design noise is almost nonexistent.

THE 6SN7 TUBE

The Input Stage uses a 6SN7 dual triode tube with no negative feedback which has become an audiophile favorite because of its ability to bring a holographic sound stage without losing detail

FIVE INPUTS

The 360 offers 1 XLR and 5 RCA inputs and outputs as well as outputs for a mono or stereo subwoofer and also has a dedicated tape loop for external components or a legacy tape deck. .

Full size XLR outputs and separate Mono and Stereo Subwoofer outs. 1 XLR and 1 RCA outputs.

REMOTE CONTROL

The F360 includes a multi function metal remote control The control, signal, and power supply board are integrated to lower the chance of failure and shorten the path for electrons to flow. A shorter path means that there is less opportunity for interference or noise to be introduced into the signal.
