The FOZ SSX V.2 has a new look and subtle revisions. The SSX V.2 is not an “Old School” tone control.

Built around the Dimension Pro Circuit designed by legendary surround sound pioneer Jim Fosgate and based on his work with analog room correction for surround sound. The SSX V.2 blends seamlessly into your system and shapes the sound based on the corrections you dial in. The Dimension Pro Circuit can expand or narrow the sound stage so you can refine the imaging and help make your speakers disappear into the background or enhance the phantom center channel.

The SSX V.2 has bass attenuation which doesn’t distort or clip the lows which results in loss of detail and an unnatural sound like traditional tone control.

The SSX V.2 also adds a 12AU7* Tube into your signal chain. Changing the 12AU7 will effect how your system sounds. The tube can be rolled to change the sonic signature of the SSX. Some tubes will edge off an make a system less harsh, while others can emphasize the upper range and add to the soundstage. The SSX V.2 lets you experiment and find your sound.

*The stock 12AU7 is neutral and will bring tube character, but not harm you systems detail.

*Acoustically treated rooms that are perfectly corrected will greatly diminish the effect of the SSX Dimension Pro technology.

THE LOGIC DISPLAY

The Black Ice Logic Display is not just a gimmick and pretty lights. It is a powerful tool that shows you exactly what the audio engineer recorded in the right and left channels. It also shows what the engineer placed in and out of phase in the track. Phase is used by engineers to create the illusion of three-dimensional sound. This information is used to properly tune the Dimension Pro knob on the SSX. We recommend listening to a track with the Dimension Pro Circuit at the 12 O’clock position(bypassed) to see if the recording is IN or OUT of phase. For example, if the track is in-phase then you will want to set the knob toward the wide and adjust it for your room.

DIMENSION PRO CIRCUIT

The Dimension Pro is a breakthrough, it will allow you to overcome the limitations of your space and interior design needs without having to worry about proper speaker placement. The speakers and the room will disappear with a turn of the Dimension Pro knob. The design goes back to the early ’80s and is based on a fix for early multi-channel home theater setups that had trouble creating a proper 3D sound field. The circuit can move phasing to a narrow field and make two speakers image as one like a center channel. Conversely, the circuit can widen the phasing and expand the sound field which removes the confinement of the walls of a room without losing the center image. Allowing the listener the ability to focus or widen the soundstage. The results are increased three-dimensional images and an expansive soundstage that can expand beyond the walls of the room.

BASS CONTROL

The bass equalizer circuit is designed to increase up to 9 dB low bass impact without bass boom. Conversely, in the event of boomy bass, the bass equalizer can reduce the boom up to 9 dB at 20 Hz

NO COLORATION

Only one coupling capacitor per channel in the signal path, and is enclosed within the feedback loop. Capacitor colorations are eliminated by this design. With the controls in the 12 o’clock position the SSX sonic controls are bypassed.

ADD TUBES TO YOUR SIGNAL CHAIN and TUBE ROLL
