What's inside

ELECTRONICS

Retaining possibly the world’s best control, the ALPS RK50 allows you hear every detail with such life and realism. Bespoke circuit design and components allows faithful reproduction with limitless headroom and dual mono amplifiers directly scaled down reference models have the ability to drive all loudspeakers comfortably.

And not forgetting our vinyl roots the built-in phono stage is the same as our award winning Pulsus phono stage. The passive RIAA circuit using high-end capacitors, helps maintain linearity of reproduction and not wanting to limit sound quality we have installed its own 35va mains transformer giving independent power to each channel. Fully flexible for any cartridge with gain and resistance easily adjustable.

POWER SUPPLY

A colossal 1100VA transformer and huge capacitors totalling 132,000uF, give an electrical reservoir the prodigious reserves that allow you to hear the slam and low frequency of live music, whilst retaining control to unearth detail and subtilty you have never before experienced.

CASEWORK

A dominating piece of audio sculpture, commanding attention with our logo carved into the 20mm solid aluminium front panel, there is a feeling of engineered solidity that is also expressed in the sound reproduction. The heavy gauge steel chassis and cover offer valued screening against environmental noise so that even the smallest musical detail is revealed. The logo hole patterning and SIGSUM name are majestically displayed for that final touch of elegance.

AVID Hifi Sigsum Integrated — muscular build, transparent presentation

The Sigsum makes its case with a colossal, over-engineered chassis and an impressively open, transparent sound that prioritises detail and control. Reviewers from Ken Kessler / HiFi News, Paul Rigby / The Audiophile Man and Pursuit Perfect System note its wide, airy soundstage, lightning-fast transients and low noise floor, delivering excellent dynamics for a 110W Class AB design. Built-in strengths include the high-quality Pulsus phono stage with extensive MM/MC settings, balanced XLR inputs and a robust headphone output. The machining, toroidal PSU and heavy alloy front plate underline premium construction. Ideal for vinyl enthusiasts and listeners seeking forensic clarity and control, the Sigsum rewards systems that favour neutrality over added warmth — a specialist integrated that offers convincing sonic pedigree and long-term durability.

The Audiophile Man

"Balanced mode, then? A total triumph. Brilliant, even."

Pros

  • Exceptionally open, low-noise sound with a wide, airy soundstage and precise imaging.
  • Strong, controlled dynamics and fast transient attack that deliver convincing slam and headroom.
  • Integrated Pulsus phono stage with configurable MM/MC gain, impedance and capacitance — high-quality vinyl front end without an external box.
  • Robust, premium mechanical construction (large toroidal transformer, thick alloy front plate and solid controls).

&

Cons

  • No remote control — a deliberate design choice that reduces convenience for some modern listening setups.
  • Relatively limited line-input count for the price class, which may constrain versatility in complex systems.
  • Slightly restrained mid/upper-bass presence and occasional top-end emphasis on some digital material — may favour listeners who prefer neutrality over warmth.

Dynamics

92/100

As a Class A/B 110W amp, the Sigsum is repeatedly praised for effortless delivery, superb slam and lightning-fast transient attack (HiFi News: 'superb slam', The Audiophile Man: 'music was absolutely effortless'). Reviewers report excellent control and headroom for its power class, with no signs of strain.

Soundstage Imaging

Build Quality

90/100

Heavy, substantial construction with a large toroidal transformer, thick 20mm alloy front panel and robust chassis are noted across reviews (HiFi News, Pursuit Perfect System, The Audiophile Man). Controls and mechanical quality are praised; some comment the chassis is larger than strictly necessary.

Features Connectivity

90/100

Well-featured for an analogue-focused integrated: balanced XLR and RCA inputs, a high-quality built-in Pulsus phono stage with MM/MC settings, headphone output, and preamp outputs are present (Pursuit Perfect System, HiFi News, The Audiophile Man). Lack of remote and limited digital/streaming options slightly reduces versatility.

Value for Money

88/100

Reviews emphasise the integrated Pulsus phono stage (noted as equivalent to a ~£2k standalone unit) and strong sonic performance, suggesting the package justifies a premium (Pursuit Perfect System, HiFi News, The Audiophile Man). Limited inputs and no remote temper the overall value case, but reviewers signal a justified premium for its capabilities.
