Audiovector R 1
COMPACT HIGH-END PERFORMERS
The R 1 Series delivers a speedy response with great detail and dynamics. The design handles of percussions and bass notes easy in a clean, nimble and natural way. These 2-way, rear-ported stand-mount speakers, use a non-parallel tear drop design to minimize internal standing waves. Using concepts derived from their larger siblings, the R 6 & R 3 models, the R 1 Series delivers a precise soundstage with a sense of power and punch that belies their size. These little wonders leave the listener wanting more.
In order to take full advantage of the Audiovector tweeters and the hand assembled mid/bass drivers made with Aramid Composite membranes, the front baffle is narrow. The result is a smooth, precise sound diffusion – an ‘out of the box’ sound that keeps unwanted diffraction distortion to an absolute minimum.
The R 1 model is available in two versions (Signature and Arreté) which use increasingly complex concepts and technologies. The type of tweeter used is also one of the distinguishing points between the two versions, with the Arreté AMT tweeter being the finest and most sophisticated (find more about the Arreté technologies here).
Audiovector Freedom is a new and revolutionary grounding technology, which addresses the movement induced distortion of and between the drive units in a loudspeaker. The currents running between the chassis are being processed and dealt with through a new separate crossover, which routes the signal to the ground terminal of your wall socket or your grounded mains distribution unit. Contrary to conventional knowledge, these currencies cause coloration and distortion between the drive units. By balancing and filtering these through a dedicated separate filter and by offering the possibility of connecting the speakers to earth/ground, we achieve a clean, very accurate, significantly more realistic sound with a low noise floor. Arreté models only.

Small but authoritative, the R1 Arreté’s hand-built AMT tweeter delivers extended, airy highs and a wide, holographic soundstage, while a weighty 6.5" carbon woofer gives surprising punch and control. Reviewers praise its musical midrange, articulate dynamics and build quality; What Hi‑Fi? and The Absolute Sound note the grounding concept tightens bass.
Pros
- Smooth, extended, low‑distortion highs from the hand-built AMT tweeter provide exceptional detail and air.
- Natural, musical midrange and vocal timbre that deliver coherent, engaging presentation.
- Surprising bass weight and authoritative dynamics for a standmount; integrates well with a sub for full-range performance.
- High-grade build and finishes—hand-polished cabinets, in-house drivers and carefully treated crossover components.
&
Cons
- Grounding cable that improves dynamics and bass is sold separately, adding significant extra cost.
- Some low-frequency boominess and room sensitivity can occur; benefits from careful placement or subwoofer integration.
- Occasional sibilance on certain recordings—treble is highly resolving and can expose poor source/mastering.

Bass
90/100
Multiple reviews cite deep extension (38Hz -6dB) and an unexpectedly muscular, authoritative low end for its size; reviewers also note some room/boom sensitivity and recommend a sub in very large rooms. Overall bass extension, control and texture are excellent for a 6.5" stand-mount.
Mid
92/100
Reviewers consistently praise natural, detailed midrange and vocal timbre ("voices natural", "resolve fine detail", "benchmark"); the mid is described as musically cohesive and engaging with strong clarity and body.
Treble
90/100
The hand-built AMT tweeter is repeatedly lauded for extended, smooth, low-distortion highs and enhanced spatial cues; a single reviewer noted medium/high sibilance in places, but overall treble is refined and detailed.
Soundstage Imaging
91/100
Multiple reviewers describe a wide, deep, and holographic soundstage aided by rearward AMT radiation / Soundstage Enhancement Concept; imaging is precise and believable with palpable depth.
Dynamics
91/100
Described as bold, confident and fast — the R1s handle savage dynamics without compression and benefit from the Freedom grounding for improved bass articulation and perceived dynamics.

Build Quality
92/100
High craftsmanship: strengthened cabinets, carbon-fibre sandwich mid-woofers, in-house drivers, cryogenically treated crossover parts and hand-polished finishes are repeatedly mentioned as premium build attributes.
Features Connectivity
81/100
Passive single-post baseline applied (80) plus +1 for the included Freedom grounding terminal/circuit (third binding post) which reviewers say materially affects dynamics and bass; no DSP/streaming expected for passives.
Value for Money
87/100
Reviewers call the R1 Arreté among the finest stand-mounts at its price and say it can beat many pricier floorstanders when paired with a sub; some cite the price/cable cost as hurdles, but overall performance vs peers is highly favorable.
