Audio Physic Spark
An icon returns
With exceptional dynamic sound and an impressive, almost tangible spatial depth and width, Audio Physic sets new standards for three-way compact loudspeakers with the new Spark.
With its elegant, minimalistic, and sound-optimized design, the Spark closes the gap between a bookshelf and floor-standing speakers, offering tremendous freedom in positioning without compromising superior acoustic performance. The result is a fascinating listening experience even in the most demanding rooms.
The new Spark comes with the Audio Physic PowerTrain technology known from the Cardeas. A vital component of this technology is the unique HHCM SL midrange driver, which works entirely without a centering spider and transmits the kinetic energy in a powerful and efficient way, without the slightest sign of listening fatigue. The Spark achieves a resolution previously unknown for speakers in its category.
The Spark also features an innovative woofer system with Audio Physic’s Dual Surround technology.
In addition, the new Spark adopts other key innovations of the Cardeas: in addition to the new midrange driver, the new edition of the icon convinces with the proven multi-sandwich housing technology, a high-tech honeycomb construction inside the cabinet, capacitors with copper foam contact in the tweeter filter / tweeter branch and of course excellent processed materials – from the terminal to the chassis.

3-Way Design
The 3-way speaker features three different drivers that share reproduction of the entire frequency range. One or more woofers, a midrange driver and a tweeter. Usually the crossover frequency between low and mid frequencies is set between 150Hz and 300Hz, and between 2,000Hz and 3,000Hz for the transition from the midrange to the tweeter.
Bi-Wiring/Bi-Amping optional
Most our speakers have a regular single-wiring terminal to avoid unnecessary metal or wire bridges that would harm sound quality when used in single-wiring configuration (Which is what most Hi-Fi fans actually use). However, an optional Bi-Wiring/Bi-Amping Terminal can usually be ordered with any new speaker. Retrofitting only on special request.
HHCM SL
The HHCM SL works without a spider, which means that kinetic energy is transferred in an unimagined way. This creates an outstanding and natural music reproduction that you can’t believe until you hear it.

Audio Physic Spark’s defining trait is its airy, highly resolved midband driven by a novel spiderless midrange that yields intimate vocal presence and uncanny transparency. Reviewers praise its three-dimensional imaging, refined treble and surprisingly fast, controlled bass for a compact three-way monitor. Sources ranging from Srajan Ebaen to Steve Crowe note its reference-level clarity.
Pros
- Spiderless midrange gives exceptional transparency and vocal intimacy with minimal off‑axis beaming.
- Very precise, three‑dimensional imaging and soundstage for a compact three‑way monitor.
- Fast, well‑controlled bass with measured extension down to the specified ~40Hz for a monitor this size.
&
Cons
- Can sound a touch reserved or aloof to listeners who prefer a warmer, more overtly coloured presentation.
- Lower bass authority than larger stand‑mount speakers — owners in bigger rooms may want a subwoofer for weight and impact.

Bass
92/100
For its size (7" woofer, rear-ported), reviewers report deep extension to the specified 40Hz and a fast, well-controlled character. Pursuit notes bass is 'fast, clean, clear and precise' and 6Moons/Alpha remark the ported alignment achieves extension that a sealed box could not. Good low-frequency authority without flabbiness; placement/room will affect absolute weight.
Mid
93/100
Multiple reviewers praise the spiderless 150mm mid for transparency, intimacy and vocal presence: Pursuit calls vocals 'carved out in space' and 6Moons highlights an elastic, vigorous vocal band. Alpha and 6Moons emphasize coherence and lack of beaming across the midrange band.
Treble
92/100
Treble is described as crisp, detailed and extended with a smooth, non-edgy presentation (Pursuit: 'just about perfect', strong sense of ambience). Reviewers note air and refinement without harshness, contributing to convincing ambience and high-frequency detail.
Soundstage Imaging
93/100
Consistently praised for three-dimensionality and precise placement: Pursuit calls the soundstage 'open, clear, transparent' and 6Moons/Alpha report strong imaging and in-room presence of virtual performers. Excellent focus and depth for a stand-mount speaker.
Dynamics
88/100
Generally responsive and coherent with good transient speed due to spiderless drivers, but some reviews note a slight restraint in expressive contrast (6Moons: 'curtailed related contrast'; Alpha: 'can sound sterile/aloof' at times). Strong microdynamic detail, slightly conservative macro punch in some rooms.

Build Quality
95/100
High-end fit and finish: immaculate gloss cabinets with glass baffles, silicon-carb foam lining and robust driver construction. Reviewers highlight premium materials, careful bracing/damping and WBT terminals; overall craftsmanship is excellent.
Features Connectivity
80/100
Passive bookshelf baseline applied. Rear-ported three-way with WBT binding posts and recommended 30–180W amplification; no DSP/streaming (appropriate for passive design).
Value for Money
82/100
Price is high (reviews cite ~£5,800 / with stands ~£6,350; product data lists 7,700), but reviewers argue the Spark offers cutting-edge driver tech and reference-level traits within its class. Expensive but defensible vs peers—strong performance and build justify the premium for buyers seeking reference stand-mounts.
