Voice reproduction at a new level

Because it transports most of a movie’s dialogue, the center speaker is of vital importance for the over-all performance of any multichannel system. That was more than enough reason for us to design the new Classic Center  with the same attention to detail that we apply to all our speakers.

Hence, we chose nothing less than our esteemed Classic 15 as a starting point for the development. Classic Center uses exactly the same drivers, and the same cleverly designed crossover network as its larger sibling. Thus, we can be sure that the Classic Center will be a perfect acoustic match with all the speakers of our Classic range, offering near endless possibilities for designing your multichannel speaker system of choice with the famous Audio Physic sound quality.

Build quality of the Classic Center is also what you would expect from a speaker bearing the AUDIO PHYSIC marque, with a solid glass-sandwich cabinet, of course entirely Made in Germany and to the highest standards of craftsmanship. Standard colours are High-gloss Black and High-gloss White. The Classic Center comes with an open front cover using the same glass-sandwich construction as the cabinet walls.

The Classic Center  is a 2½-way design, meaning that the mid-woofer is more than capable to perform exceptionally down to the very low end of the speaker’s frequency range but receives additional support from the dedicated woofer at some point to deliver that extra bass punch. Both drivers feature cones made from woven glass fibre glass, combining low weight with high internal damping. Sound-disrupting partial oscillations of the cone are thereby effectively prevented. The fixed phase plug of the mid-woofer plays an important part in cooling the substantial magnetic motor during operation and reduces compression effects in the crucial mid-range where human hearing is especially sensitive to any kind of coloration.

Nestled between those two drivers sits the tweeter that, with a 22-millimeter large silk dome and well-ventilated magnet motor, is capable of recreating high frequencies up to well above the audible band with astonishing fidelity. The tweeter resides in a small horn-shaped indentation that subtly adjusts the sound radiation behaviour around the crossover frequency between mid and high frequencies. This way, the spatial image remains wide, balanced and precise, and the Classic Center is ideally equipped to provide the precision, dynamics, and clarity that complex movie soundtracks require.

For ample bass performance, the Classic Center  has been designed as a bass reflex system, using Audio Physic’s unique technology of passing the sound waves through the cabinet’s sandwich layers rather than through a conventional bass reflex port. This avoids the problems commonly found with ported designs, eliminating port chuffing and reducing other unwanted noise to next to nothing

As we at Audio Physic never compromise when it comes to the quality of our speakers, the Classic Center is of course fitted with high-end terminals from WBT’s nextgen®range. These have proven to be impervious to eddy currents and have a clever torque indicator to ensure the ideal tightening force when used with spade connectors.

Our unique Sandwich Cabinets are an innovative way to stop the speaker cabinet from developing an acoustical life of its own. It is especially effective with our stylish glass-finished speakers as the relatively high weight of the glass panels helps dampening the cabinet even better.

Dual Basket Design

AUDIO PHYSIC’S unique DUAL BASKET DESIGN is a true break-through innovation and the most important part of the HHCM-III technology. Instead of the tradition single basket, our HHCM-III features two separate baskets to prevent and subdue unwanted vibrations already at the source.

VCF – Vibration Control Feet optional

The best feet for our – and other – speakers. VCF provide a substantial improvement of sound performance by reducing transfer of unwanted vibrations while at the same time protecting delicate surfaces. Also available as VCF Component for Hi-Fi separates and as VCF Cable Supports.

2½-Way Design

The 2 ½-way speaker operates similar to a 2-way speaker, but is supplemented by an additional woofer, which covers the frequency range up to 500Hz in parallel to the mid-woofer.
